Hey everyone, Garens doing another article. I kinda feel like posting another today, so here you go.
The Hurricane Mk. II. You may remember my garage tour, when I showed you the WIP flyer that I was building. Well, that's no more. I've built it from the Shop, and then I flew it for a bit. Long story short, I wasn't happy with it. So, I started rebuilding it. And here's the whole thing.
It started as all robos: With a pilot seat and a few blocks. Nothing special. Yet.
This tip I wanted to share with you since the beginnings but this is where I have room for it. If your robo is not high enough from the ground, you can simply put some random hardware (in this case an SMG) under it and it will magically fly a few blocks higher. This is easy to do and I think everyone should know about this.
Then after a few minutes of building randomly, the shape of the thing started out. I added Aerofoils, making the plane a biplane and added 3 rudders at the back for keeping it straight. The nosecone I was very happy with, because it looks good in my opinion, though it could be a bit less chubby, but hey, chubby people are not to make fun of.
I thought about not sharing this one, but I feel you may be able to copy this thing if you want to. This is the plane without the nosecone. That one I had some trouble with, but it came out nice in the end so no harm done.
Then there came the thrusters. The ones between the Aerofoils are tier 4 and the big one dug into the middle is a tier 5 thruster. They give the plane a nice bit of speed and it can move around nice and quick.
Then came the weapons. I figured, since it can move fast it might as well just have a few SMGs and hunt both flyers and land-robos. These two I figured would be nice to do, since there are some facing down, and some facing up. And since I'm switching the SMGs from my Leopard to tier 5's I could just put the old tier 4 SMGs on this plane. It worked out well.
This is what it turned out to be. I use 5 tier 4 SMGs and I'm thinking about changing them to tier 5, since with those I can get this to tier 5, and have 2 tier 5's sitting in my garage. Also, an idea: if you decide to copy it (which would be a hard thing based on these pictures) you might want to move the SMGs on the belly and give it some kind of wheelbase, so that when starting a battle you can just easily roll around until you get some air.
So, some words before I go. This thing flies very nicely and is a small target to hit. However it is fast and you definately don't want to go out first and get shot to pieces. It cannot take any damage. If one of your Rudders gets hit, you're screwed. If one of the Aerofoils gets hit off, you might as well just self destruct since you can't go anywhere. Now, that I'm done rambling, I'm going to give you a few shots of other angles so you may be able to copy the thing. I totally recommend you do, since it's a nice way of introducing flyers and it's just in the middle of tier 4 atm. I'll give some update when I'm changing it.
So here we go:
Sorry for not giving a better bottom shot. I hope you can do it by those, and the ones above them. This was a long post so I'll probably only do another one tomorrow.
If you enjoyed, please let me know by putting a little comment under this post and following the blog by e-mail. I'm going to do one post (at least one) every day 'till my school starts, then I'll get back to 3 a week depending on how much free time I have.
Anyways, have a wonderful day and have fun out on the battlefield.
